Staff Wellbeing
At Gillas Lane, we believe that good staff wellbeing is essential for cultivating a mentally healthy school, for motivating staff and for promoting pupil wellbeing and attainment.
As in all schools, our staff juggle a multitude of different tasks and demands so it is vital that we provide the right emotional and practical support so that they can, in turn, support their pupils.
As a school, we place great emphasis on maintaining a work-life balance and strive to reduce the pressures that come with the job.
In school strategies
- Review of the effective feedback and marking policy to reduce marking workload
- Staff can take their PPA time at home
- Mid terms and schemes of work for non-core subjects to reduce planning workload
- Staff meetings planned out each term and an agenda for each one to ensure effective use of directed time
- Referrals to counselling services
- Free access to The Wellbeing Hub portal
- Half termly Team Gillas shared table - an extended lunch hour for staff to share food and relax for a little longer than normal
However, we know that there are times when staff may need a little extra support.
Below are some links to useful websites, reading material and support groups that our staff may find useful should they need some support with their own mental wellbeing.
